    Description

First-harvest Japanese matcha with sweetness, umami and low bitterness.

AU MATCHA Ceremonial Matcha is the smoothest and most umami-forward option in the current AU MATCHA grade range. It is intended for straight preparation with water, traditional-style matcha and premium drinks where the tea's sweetness and umami can be clearly appreciated.

    Product Details

    • Grade: Ceremonial
    • Pack size: 1kg
    • Harvest composition: Selected first-harvest leaves
    • Flavour: Sweet, rich in umami and low in bitterness
    • Origin: Japan, with sourcing regions including Kyoto, Shizuoka and Kagoshima
    • Best for: Straight matcha, traditional preparation and premium matcha lattes

    Flavour and Recommended Applications

This matcha has a smoother and less bitter profile than the other core grades in the AU MATCHA range. Its sweetness and umami are most noticeable when it is prepared with water or used in drinks with minimal added flavouring.

It can also be used for premium lattes where a softer flavour and lower bitterness are more important than producing the strongest possible tea character.

    Recommended Uses

    • Straight matcha prepared with water
    • Usucha-style thin matcha
    • Traditional tea preparation
    • Premium hot and iced matcha lattes
    • Drinks using little or no added sweetener
    • Delicate desserts where umami and sweetness can remain noticeable

    What Does “Ceremonial Grade” Mean?

Ceremonial grade is not a legally standardised grade in Japan or Australia. Within the AU MATCHA range, the term identifies this first-harvest product as the option designed for straight preparation, pronounced umami and low bitterness.

When comparing ceremonial matcha, consider the harvest, origin, flavour, intended use and actual performance rather than relying only on the grade name.

    Pack Size and Yield

This product is supplied in a 1kg pack. As a guide, one kilogram provides approximately 500 servings at 2g per serve or 250 servings at 4g per serve. Actual usage depends on the preparation style and desired strength.

Is Ceremonial Matcha Right for You?

Choose Ceremonial Matcha when the product will be served primarily with water or when your menu requires the smoothest, lowest-bitterness option in the AU MATCHA range.

For a more economical first-harvest product that also performs well in premium lattes, compare Super Premium Matcha Powder 1kg.

You can also compare all AU MATCHA grades.
